The Couples Café Menu You've heard of 'like attracts like'. Well, if that's true then "yuk attracts yuk"! The law of attraction is referred to in many ways by many schools of thought. Some call it karma; others call it the golden rule, still others refer to it as 'you reap what you sow'. The law of attraction ensures that what we put out in the world, we get back - some say threefold, others say tenfold. The law of attraction rewards any emotion with the same emotion; the reward of patience is patience, anger begets anger, love begets love. As an outsider looking in on others' relationships we sometimes think, "now there's an unhealthy relationship"!! Maybe, to you, it's passive-aggressive; maybe it's codependent; maybe one of the mates is abusive… whatever whoever defines as "unhealthy". Ahhhh…the elusive manifesting concept. Not as elusive as you might think. We'll look at various presentations of this concept. As you munch your mushrooms, you will find that manifesting and attraction work together. However, we will deviate from the mushroom concept…mushrooms grow and thrive in the dark; people do not…if you keep yourself in the dark, you will not grow. Ultimately we all want to grow…in our lives and in our relationships with each other, right? Do I reap what I sow or sow what I reap?!?! Ah, that is the question. This adage has always been somewhat of a "chin-scratcher"… ya know, like "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" And, it's right up there with "what goes around comes around." Which does come first, anyway? What? Why is she talking about vinegar - a sour liquid obtained by fermentation of dilute alcoholic liquids and used as a condiment or preservative - and how can vinegar have anything to do with relationships? And how is she gonna whip this one around to using vinegar with visualization? Funny thing about that is as I'm typing this, I'm not even sure yet. One thing I do know is that being part of a couple, feeling like you belong to someone, and being in love certainly goes a long way in preserving longevity. Not only that, being the condiment that enhances the "flavor" of life is most definitely something to visualize. There are way more "interpretive" definitions of words than IHOP and Belgium have waffles. How would you describe the taste of maple syrup on your waffle? How would your partner describe the taste of maple syrup on his/her waffle? Hmmm… and you WERE both talking about maple syrup, right? Remember when we were kids… "I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say bounces of off me and sticks to you." Well, some things never change. When we look at others, even though we don't see it, oftentimes we're looking at our own reflection. So, at Couples Café we'll be serving all beverages in mirrored mugs to we can be sure we're "reflecting back" what we truly want to see. Unmet expectations have you all "wound up"? Did you ask your partner whether or not he/she preferred frothy milk on top or not? You didn't? You served it up the way you like it? And you got upset when he/she didn't drink it? When you order Expectation Espresso, you'll feel like you're at Burger King, as long as you tell the server what "your way" is!!! What's more important to you… the silver dollars or the savory sweet chocolate chip ones? Or, perhaps you'd rather create a combo-platter of both!!! Yeah, that'd be delish, wouldn't it? Just make sure you strike the right balance!!! This sandwich is a triple-decker…piled high with layers of Women's Lib, Technology, and the "Me" generation…all stacked between a fluffy, yet changing two-sided "gender role" between each layer. This one's a mouthful!!!. Has the economy, lay-offs, unemployment and other financial woes left you out in the cold? A few sips of Financial Frappuccino for two will make it all go down a little smoother. Trying to make tamales without the cornhusks or peppers? Why? Would you try to remove lug nuts with a screwdriver? Do you even know what you need to have in your toolkit for the type of tamales you and your partner want? With Relationship Toolkit Tamales you'll decide on the proper ingredients for your toolkit!! Ahhh!!! Now that's amoré!!! Cooked slowly with the proper tenderness and intermittent stirring…your relationship could actually be "just like it is in the movies." All those tissue-box "chick-flicks??? Those are training classes. A little "life imitates art" linguini for dinner will leave you sleepless nowhere!!! Has the dating scene left you in a scramble? When the omelet was served, did it look like the picture on the menu? Was it supposed to have black pepper, yet tasted more like cayenne? Perhaps you didn't read the "writing on the menu" closely enough. Perhaps you were just so hungry, it didn't matter enough at the time. This ISP of Love omelet will assure you the right mix of ingredients. I was in my store one day - which, coincidentally was named Synchronicity, when a phone call came in about a Life Forum event taking place…they were looking for speakers and wondered if I knew anyone that would be interested. I was just about to say "no" when I suddenly heard myself volunteering. When they asked me what I would talk about, I said "ooh, I know…how 'bout Synchronicity?" I hung up not believing what I had just done; obviously someone else stepped in and offered me up for this. I couldn't help but shake my head and marvel at…well…the Synchronicity. |
Didja notice that all the items on the menu are priceless? Like the MasterCard commercial, if you order something not served at a Couples Café somewhere, you will pay dearly - maybe you already have. However, if you savor the flavor, if you swish it around leaving your taste buds wanting more, if you completely chew and digest the Couples Café menu items, you will find your relationship so rich in love, compassion, fun, tenderness, integrity, and respect… it'll be… well… priceless!!!
Dessert!!! Did I forget dessert?!?!? We gotta have dessert!!! It'll be to-go dessert... a combination of a loving thought or romantic tip and a little recipe to whip up at home - adding ingredients you need to create and/or maintain a "Bogey & Bacall" relationship.
At most cafes it's not important to meet the chef. However, at the Couples Café, I believe it's important for you to know some of my background.
I hail from Brooklyn, NY and have been residing in Atlanta, GA for over 26 years. I am a 23 veteran of Corporate America who recently accepted a severance package to pursue my life path and purpose.
I am a widow from a 10 year marriage / 13 year relationship. Although my husband had some 'bouts with the bottle', our marriage and relationship was based on what I now call ESP...Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical connection. We healed and grew together. Sadly, our marriage ended after his two-year battle with lung cancer, leaving me a widow at the age of 39.
Being hurled back into the dating scene during mid-life has been a very "enlightening" journey, to say the least. Like some of you, I never would've thought it would be like it is. This has lead me to realize that being the owner of a Metaphysical Shop is the wrong road on my journey. The right road is the opening of the Couples Café and the 4-Book publishing deal that I just signed so I can touch the hearts of people like you in sharing my journey and the embedded lessons of my experiences.
I want EVERYONE to have a Bogey & Bacall relationship; I want EVERYONE to realize that we CAN have it all; I want EVERYONE to love and be loved. It hurts my heart that we're all struggling so hard at something that doesn't need to be that complicated… what we all need to do is drink out of our "mirrored mugs", reprogram some of our belief systems, and reframe some of our thinking. With each issue of the Couples Café we will do just that!!!
