Components of Group Meditation

If you are interested in starting up your own meditation group, and are unsure of what to do during your sessions, here are some basic components which make a meditation group fun and interesting. The elements that you include in your session will depend on the level of awareness and knowledge you have acquired. First, I will discuss a couple of good practices to follow.

1. Assign a group leader.

The group session will go much more smoothly if one person assumes the responsibility of group leader. The group leader watches the time to make sure you accomplish everything planned for the duration of the session. He or she also ensures that everyone has their fair share of time to speak about experiences or ask questions.
It's nice to take turns at this 'job'.

2. Share the time.

Make sure everyone has time to voice opinions and to participate. Sometimes, one really enthusiastic participant can hamper the progress of the group.

3. Respect other people's privacy.

If people don't want to participate or discuss certain issues or experiences, don't force them. People will participate when they feel comfortable within the group.

From the list below, choose one type of meditation and a couple of other components to make your session interesting, enjoyable, and uplifting.

Impressed Readings	Great way to start off the session. Choose favourite inspirational books or use the bible.
Aura Readings	Try to read each other's auras.
Message Giving	Entire group participates, not just one Member giving off messages.
Healing Circle	This is a great way to end the evening.
Spiritual Discussion	Each session, choose a different spiritual topic for discussion.
Crystal Work	Bring in crystals to experiment with and to learn about.
Healings	Send healings to those in need.
Guest Speakers	Invite people to the group who will give information on topics of interest.
Card Readings	Bring in various card decks used for inspiration and encouragement, and use them.
Book Reviews	Read a spiritual book and then discuss it.
See a Movie	Before the session, see a movie that contains important spiritual messages and discuss it.
Play a Game	Spend the session playing a game such as 'The Transformation Game'.
