What is the one thing that you do when you are feeling depressed that helps to lift your mood?
Unfortunately, feeling depressed in a normal part of life because we all have things happen that disappoint us, upset us, make us feel like a failure...the list goes on and on.Now, they say depression is anger turned inward so the first thing to do to help get yourself out of a depression is to recognize what may be making you angry that you are not expressing. That may take some time to discover though. Recognizing our deepest feelings is not always an easy thing to do but once you release that anger, you will be surprised at how quickly the depression lifts. Releasing anger is something that needs to be done in a safe way without bringing harm to ourselves or to anyone else. So once the feeling of anger emerges and you want to release it, try screaming into a pillow, scream out in nature where nobody is around or scream in the car with the windows up. Punch a pillow, mattress or punching bag. Let the pent up energy out.
But, until you figure out why you are depressed...what can you do to make yourself feel better? Let us know by writing in to service@oralin.com and putting "I feel better by..." in the subject line or fill out the form below. What is the one thing that you do that makes life a little more bearable while you are going through a challenging life situation. Maybe you are doing something that can help someone else - give the gift of sharing.

"When depression hits me., I will call up somebody.. But now days not very many people are available for anything or at anytime.... so, then I would go for a walk...... if that does not do it then I know that I have to get in touch with my own self,,, and doing some work on my inner feelings.... so ,,, I go on my computer and look up some beautiful insperations, or prayers, or articles, or modes of that put me into the spiritual mood., that is what I call it., and then I start meditating on what I am reading, or if that does not work,,, I choose some
prayers, and I sit down with a candle with the colour that I think is representing my need at that time,, I breath deep, and try to sit right and then start a mode of meditation prayer with the candle, or worship God, in my own way getting closer have the feel of the Heavenly Creaotour, and with each moments as I go through different prayers, and conversation with God, my Heavenly Father, I am growing in the Spirit of Light and love...peace....joy.....and tranquility.... and I stay with this mode until I got completely over taken by the Spirit of God and until I am able to rasionally reason out my problems , ,, talking it over with my self and to realize that nothing is worth it everything is on the
move everything is temporarly,,, usually them I gain a new insight to life it self that I am able to apply next time and lessen the pressure. Love....and .... light ... to alll.... May You all be Blessed, with the Most Grace, and Most Mercy and of Prosperity of Our Heavenly Father through out the coming year and alwayd." -Maria Rodriguez
"taking a nice long soak in the tub with nice smelling baths salts either by candlelight or reading a book." - Diane Zielinski
"I feel better by: Running a hot bubble bath turning out the lights and lighting a lavender candle or two, I also listen to a very calming sort of music. some people have different tastes to what type of music calms them so, whichever you like. Sink down in the tub and just close your eyes and take a journey to a calm fragrant place that only you are allowed and just breathe. I promise it won't take long to see that you feel much more relaxed. Hope it helps" - Monica
"Beautiful music! I Love so many types of music and have so many favorite songs, Love ballads and others. These songs that always meant so much to my Spirit, now mean even more as I sing them to God or All that Is and I feel God(Love) singing them back to me. Beautiful poetry and inspirational writings, channelings of Unconditional Love. A hot soaker bath by candle light and beautiful music. It always helps me to just "Let It Be" as the Beatles' song says. Let go and let God or Love and see the perfection in everything. Hugs and more hugs and when there is noone to hug, just hug yourself and Love yourself as God or the Universe Loves you, just as you are. Love is my only religion; the world is my family."- Carl Lee Gant
"I feel better by talking to the emotion that is coming up. Often, I cannot connect this emotion to a present event in my life. These emotions that come up could be from a past life, an inner child that needs to express itself, a past event that was not expressed at that time....these emotions want to be heard, acknowledged, comforted, loved, and feel safe to release (crying, yelling in a pillow, writing a letter...) So when it comes up, let it out without judging the emotion.
Love and Light" - Jackie
"I use aromatherapy and pampering to help turn my mood around. These are things I add to my daily rituals that make a big difference. Lighting a clean burning candle and giving myself a facial while soaking my feet and having a cup of herbal tea is relaxing and empowering. Taking a little time out just for yourself has a way of providing clarity, reducing stress and giving much needed perspective. One thing that never fails for me is to take an aromatherapy shower. Showers incorporate a symbolic use of water as well, by washing away impurities, tensions, feelings of dull lifeslessness as well. I first exfoliate with a natural body scrub or polish and then use an essential oil shower gel. The steam infuses the air with uplifting aromas and it is an immediate boost just to know that you are caring for yourslef and that you deserve such care and kindness. At the end of the shower I pat dry, mist all over with a lavender rosemary blend and massage a lotion,!
oil or body buter into my skin. It's really hard not to feel better after treating yourself like the royalty you truly are :)" - Kim Pfeifer
"I find meditating while either burning insense or aromatherapy oils and listening to calming music really helps...:-)" - Lynn
"everyone has heard the saying "you get what you ask for in life" well, if im feeling down i say to myself, No, i will not accept this, i am going to be happy today, nothing is going to bother me and nothing is going to stop me being happy, i am in control, and i do not claim any negative thoughts as being my own, so i push them aside and go on with my happy day feeling great to be alive, as i deserve to." - Anon.
