Several years ago I was suffering from a terrible hangover. I was ready to commit suicide because I had been attending A.A. for several years, but had returned to drinking.
In the "Big Book" that A.A. uses, there is a passage about "walking down the broad highway of life," well, I had had a dream the night before about walking down a highway with my two best friends from A.A. We were holding hands, and there was a rainbow above us in the sky.
I remembered the dream as I was lying in the sun depressed and disgusted with myself for drinking. Then the song Desperado by the Eagles came on the radio. I was listening to the words, and when it got to the part that says "It may be raining, but there's a rainbow above you, you better let somebody love you before it's too late," I started crying.
I said, "I have got to go back to A.A. I went to the next meeting, and one of my girlfriends that was in my dream was chairing the meeting. I got goosebumps!
