Grandma's Around Me

Mine is a brief experience. It happened back in 1998 when my grandmother passed from cancer. I wasn't here in the States at the time to see her. I was there when the doctor told me, then her the bad news. I felt bad about not being able to come home from the funeral. But when I came home it was like I could feel that she was still here.

Well, the day I went to visit the grave I had a familiar chill then a smell. It was her. The way she kind of smelled like the cigarettes she used to smoke and the ointment she used for her arthritis for her arm.

Then following that, I had dreams about her. Me and her talking in her house. I was sitting on the floor and she was combing my hair like she used to when I was little. Always calling me her "sweety baby" or graduation present.

Till this day, sometimes I just feel like she is still with me.
